What counts as a "character"?
Every letter, space, and punctuation mark in your text counts as one character. A typical 60-second narration is about 900 characters, so even the Free plan covers a lot of audio.
Is there really a free plan?

How does voice cloning work?
Upload 30 seconds of clean audio you have the rights to use. Vocalis builds a private voice model in minutes. Cloning is available on Creator and Pro, and every clone requires explicit consent.
