Hi, I'm Maya — nice to meet you

I'm a freelance designer & developer who likes shipping more than talking about shipping. For nine years I've helped founders and small teams turn rough ideas into products people actually use.

My story

From curious kid to one-person studio

I started building websites for fun in high school, taught myself design because no one would hand me the "good" projects, and never really stopped. After a few years on in-house product teams, I went independent in 2017 to work the way I believe is best: close to the client, hands on the work, accountable for the outcome.

Today I run Solo — a deliberately small freelance practice. Because I design and build, there's no hand-off where ideas get lost in translation. You get one partner who understands the whole picture, from the first wireframe to the production code.

I work remotely from Austin with clients all over the world, and I take on just a few projects at a time so each one gets the attention it deserves.

How I work

The principles behind every project

Outcomes over output

Pretty is the baseline. I care whether the thing actually works for your users and your business.

Clear, honest communication

No jargon, no ghosting. You'll always know where things stand and what's coming next.

Momentum matters

I ship in focused sprints so you see progress every week, not a big reveal at the very end.

Details, obsessively

The spacing, the easing, the empty states — the small things are what make work feel premium.

True partnership

I treat your project like my own. Your deadline is my deadline; your win is my win.

Leave it better

Clean files, documented handoff, and a build your team can actually maintain after I'm gone.

Think we'd work well together?

I'd love to hear what you're building. Reach out and let's see if it's a fit.
