Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is required to work with me. That said, if you're managing a medical condition, I'm always happy to coordinate with your physician so everyone is on the same page.

What's the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian?

A Registered Dietitian (RD) has completed an accredited degree, a supervised clinical internship, and a national board exam, and maintains ongoing credentials. It's a protected, regulated title — which means your care is grounded in clinical training, not trends.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. All services are available via secure video, and online coaching is built for it. In-person visits are available at the Portland studio if you prefer to meet face to face.

Will you put me on a restrictive diet?

That's not how I work. Nourish is a non-diet, weight-inclusive practice. We focus on adding nourishing habits and a peaceful relationship with food rather than cutting out the things you enjoy.

Do you take insurance?

Many insurance plans cover medical nutrition therapy. I can provide a detailed superbill for you to submit for reimbursement, and I'm happy to help you check your benefits before we begin.
